Daylight burglar strikes again
By CARLA STARNES

Ten homes near Oxford's historic city square have been burglarized in broad daylight.
The most recent break-in occurred yesterday, January 28, Sunday morning. Mildred Shegog returned from church to find her Van Buren home had been ransacked. According to Shegog, jewelry was removed from the home. The burglar entered through an unlocked basement window.
The Shegog family has offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to the return of their jewelry. The stolen jewelry includes some family heirlooms that do not have high appraised values, but have sentimental value to the Shegogs.
Property Crimes Detective Greg Reade of the Yoknapatawpha County Sheriff's Department advises area residents to take basic precautions.
"Lock your doors and watch for suspicious persons in your neighborhood. We have extra patrols on duty, and we expect to find the person or persons responsible very soon."
At this time, there are no suspects in the burglaries.
